The men and women of Azeroth

The game attracts a lot of different kinds of people. If someone says that they know exactly what kind of people play WoW, they're wrong.

Men. Most of them are unwelcoming when I first address them in conversation. But I'm persistent, particularly in kindness. Usually when they find out that I'm a woman, the tone of conversation changes. And when they find out that I'm 36 years old, married and my husband also plays WoW, the tone changes again and a lot of times the conversation ends there. ^_^  The youngest boy I've talked with in-game was 13. That's almost the same age as my oldest child and don't want to socialize and play with kids that age. Oldest man (that I know of) is my husband <3. I've been fortunate enough to meet some smart and well-behaved 20-year-olds but I've have to say that they are a minority in that age group. Some of the worst loudmouths I've met are around that age. Most guys at their thirties are nice and well mannered, seen some life and are educated, in other words good company.

Women. This is a bit tough nut for me... I've played together with my husband a lot and every now and then I've been missing girl friends in-game, I think it's because none of my irl girl friends play WoW. When I started to play, I met a woman from my country, I chatted with her quite regularly. She was really nice and helped me along my questing. Since then she has moved most of her characters to Alliance side and I haven't seen her much. Then I met H. in-game, she is a really nice girl but she stopped playing WoW for some time ago. I've recently met some girl-gamers from my country too but I'm dissapointed! For some reason I thought I would have SO much FUN playing and chatting with other girls but no. I like to socialize, do they? I'm not looking for a man for myself in-game, are they? I don't want to make it in the mens world by being 'one of the guys', do they? I don't know, I'm a bit puzzled.

But still I'm not saying that I know what kind on people play WoW. I'm saying that I've met some interesting people who happen to play WoW too. ^^
